The frost could not be refined, so it scattered as flakes from the Moon Palace. Pearl-like buds, green calyxes moistened with dew; silver blossoms gleaming, little lotuses pure as ice. Flower marks remained, delicate traces left by slender fingers; plain petals bloomed once more. The fragrance still lingered on the branches. It was already past Mid-Autumn, the season of golden osmanthus. In the cold realm of drunken dreams, one fears that everything will fall silent. Savor the flowers, freshly warmed with spring-roasted tea; store their rich fragrance, and burn aloeswood again and again. But if you have feelings, why would you cry?” “Wouldn’t heartache and a broken heart both bring tears?” “Heartache and a broken heart should mean you have no feelings. And without feelings, there should be no tears.” “Oh, but when you have feelings and love, you can be happy, too, and there will be tears. Those are tears of happiness.” “Mo'er, I’ll make you happy, but I won’t let you cry.” Yinxiang took her hand and held her icy fingertips in his mouth. If you live well, that will be the greatest comfort you can give me.” He watched the sorrow in her eyes and spoke hoarsely. “No. Whether you’re a noble prince or a prisoner, I’ll stay with you.” “Fool...” He reached out, but could not grasp her small, cold hand. “Who are you, really? Why do you hurt me so?” He looked at her in anguish, unable to face such betrayal. “I’m nobody. I’m just a lonely soul waiting a thousand years away...” The long sword swept across; blood blossomed like peach blossoms, and she fell in sorrow, her gaze still filled with love. *, *, *, *, *, *, * Tipsy and languid, she holds a pipa in her arms; jasmine flowers adorn her dark hair.
