Have Nothing but Have Everything

Yu Guangzhong

123K04

A long and lingering song "Nostalgia" made Mr. Yu famous on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, but this great writer who spans the four-dimensional writing space of poetry, prose, translation, and commentary is, as he joked, an "artistic polygamist." This book can be said to be the complete collection of Mr. Yu Guangzhong's love letters to art. It contains the cross-dimensional masterpieces written by him as a poet, translator, critic, and essayist. It can be divided into three parts: literary memory, art criticism, and essays. With a lot of words, it leads readers to smell the fragrance of hardness and softness in "Tiger and Rose", and in "The Moon Sees the Clouds". "The Mysteries of New School Chinese Painting" are revealed, "Lilting and Chattering" cuts through the confusion of tongues, and "Rampant Foreign Language" laughs at the "eccentricities" of foreign languages... Strolling along the way, through the ups and downs of the art world for half a century, in the diverse and profound cultural world in the eyes of a generation of literary giants, I meet those incomparably beautiful muses.

At this time, he was looking at a fat man in his thirties wearing a fox-legged leather jacket who was lying on the smoke couch and said: "Second Master Xu, what do you think of the eight taels of clear water paste sent to your house yesterday?" Mr. Xu was puffing on the cigarette, and after taking a sip of tea, he replied: "Okay, you can give me another ten taels tomorrow! Really, how much does that eight taels cost?" He took out the big wallet from his arms and put it on the bed, ready to pay. Tong Yunguang said with a smile: "Second Master, what are you busy with? As long as you show your face, I will give you a hand until the 60th year of the Republic of China and it won't be too late to settle the score!"

With the exception of Aunt Polly, Widow Douglas, and maybe Mary, I've never met anyone who didn't tell an occasional lie. This set of books includes "Agnes Grey, Volume 3" and "The Tenant of Wildfield Manor, Volume 6", a total of 9 volumes. Agnes Gray is the debut novel of English author Anne Bront & euml; (writing under the pen name of Acton Bell), first published in December 1847, and republished in a second edition in 1850. The novel follows Agnes Grey, a governess, as she works within families of the English gentry. Scholarship and comments by Anne's sister Charlotte Bront & euml; suggest the novel is largely based on Anne Bront & euml; euml's own experiences as a governess for five years. Agnes, her sister Mary, and their mother all try to keep expenses low and bring in extra money, but Agnes is frustrated that treats her like a child. To prove herself and to earn money, she is determined to get a position as a governess. Eventually, she obtains a recommendation from a well-placed acquaintance, is offered a position, and secures her parents'permission. With some misgivings, she travels to Wellwood house to work for the Bloomfield family. The choice of central character allows Anne to deal with issues of oppression and abuse of women and governesses, isolation and ideas of empathy. An additional theme is the fair treatment of animals. Agnes Gray also mimics some of the stylistic approaches of bildungsromans, employing ideas of personal growth and coming to age, but representing a character who in fact does not gain in virtue.

Liu Yunruo (1903-1950) was a famous social romance novelist in Tianjin in the 1930s. His original name was Zhao Xiong, also known as Liu Cunyou and given the courtesy name Weixian. The portrayal of many cultural images in the novel vividly embodies Liu Yunruo's great sorrow and resentment that the modern life is too numb, smooth, depressed and lazy, which constantly destroys people's vitality and fighting spirit, as well as his eager yearning for the true, gentle and vital "human beings". He wrote serialized novels for four or five newspapers at the same time. He wrote them into chapters without any drafts. The plots are different and not mixed with each other. It is like a work that has been practiced repeatedly and is ready to be read immediately. Writing is never limited by time and place, and manuscripts can be written on a variety of papers.
