This book contains some of the research papers written by Zhu Xiaoyang, a professor in the Department of Sociology at Peking University, since he began his academic research. The theme of these papers focused on defining topography and "thorough explanation". The political topography theory proposed in this book, as well as the "anthropological ontological turn" behind the theory, have become important research contents in the international anthropology community and even the entire social science field. However, there is currently not enough discussion on this in domestic academic circles. The publication of this book is expected to promote domestic academic circles to pay attention to and study this emerging theory and its related empirical research.
