This book takes Egypt, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon as main cases to examine the trajectory and dynamics of the evolution of military-civilian relations in Arab countries, and analyzes the types and characteristics of military-civilian relations in Arab countries. This book corrects the one-sided assertions that "the role of the Arab military is negative" and "the role of Arab civilian officials is idealized", refutes the "universalization of Western experience" argument promoted by some Western scholars on military-civilian relations, and emphasizes that the role of the Arab military should be viewed dialectically and historically. On this basis, this book analyzes the variability and diversity characteristics of military-civilian relations in Arab countries, then explores the impact of military-civilian relations on the political development of Arab countries, and reveals the future direction of military-civilian relations in Arab countries.
