The Imperial Censor in the Political Whirlpool of the Late Qing Dynasty: 1894~1911

Zheng Cuibin

194K0

The late Qing Dynasty was facing political difficulties both internally and externally, and the imperial court repeatedly issued edicts and vowed to cheer up. The censor was in a position to speak out, either correcting lawlessness or admonishing for reform. Regardless of moral condemnation or safety precautions, public opinion was temporarily suppressed by it. This book uses basic historical methods and a political perspective to reveal the situation in which the censor's discussion activities crowded the government's decision-making space in the late Qing Dynasty. It may also be a useful supplement to the political history of the late Qing Dynasty.
