The story begins in the spring of 2003; one Wednesday morning, Awen and I boarded the train bound for Guangzhou from Xifu City where we were. It was completely different from the last time, the carriage was completely empty. I have never encountered this situation when purchasing goods in Guangzhou in the past few years. "SARS" is really a terrible thing, which makes people panic. Suddenly there were a lot less people; we took a seat by the window and sat down face to face. Awen put his bag on the luggage rack, and my bag was next to him. He then put the fruits he brought on the small table, and took out his cigarettes and lighter as usual. I also took out my ladies' cigarettes and put them on the table. I was in a good mood, feeling like a spring breeze.
