The Luanhe River originates from the foothills of the ancient Bayantur Mountains and flows out of the hills above the dam like a bolt of lightning into the grasslands of Inner Mongolia. After gathering the water from mountains such as Yanshan Mountain and Qilaotu Mountain and many rivers, it winds for more than 800 kilometers and finally flows into the Bohai Bay.
