Today's Mauritania is located in northwest Africa. Historically, Mauritania has been marginalized on the world stage, yet in today's world, Mauritania is a country worth paying attention to. This book sorts out the current situation of Mauritania, including its geographical characteristics, humanistic conditions, economic structure, political system and other basic conditions. According to the historical evolution process, it explains Mauritania's prehistoric culture, ancient Berbers and their southward migration, the rise and fall of the Berber Sanhaja Alliance, Mauritania under the Almourabit dynasty, Arab migration, until French colonial rule and Mauritania's autonomy, and the development and twists and turns of the First Republic. Finally, the author analyzes the turbulent situation in Mauritania since the new century and its friendly and cooperative relations with China. This book is one of the "General History of Arab Countries in Africa Series", which is edited by Professor Wang Tiezheng and is a research result of a major project of the National Social Science Foundation.
