Through a systematic and in-depth study of temple inscriptions in the Song Dynasty, this book believes that the multi-dimensional Buddhist beliefs of the Song Dynasty were established and presented in the rich and colorful temple inscriptions. Regarding the practical value of Buddhism, although the positions and understandings of the official, folk and monasteries are different, there is no opposition or conflict between them, but complement and echo each other. Ultimately, through the writing of inscriptions by literati, monks and common people, the basic ideological aspects of Buddhist culture in the Song Dynasty were constructed: life well-being, spiritual freedom and social harmony. This conclusion undoubtedly has profound implications for the current modern country that integrates the forces of all parties, promotes social harmony, and realizes democracy and civilization.
