It is a collection of Mr. Zhang's academic essays, including many ancient books and anecdotes about the literature and history of the Republic of China.

This book contains two types of books, both of which are synopsis-style catalogs made by Mr. Zhang Zongxiang when he was in charge of the library throughout his life and sorted and rescued ancient books. The fields of philology such as designing editions, catalogs, and collations are the culmination of Mr. Zhang's major achievements throughout his life.

This book contains seven categories: "Overview of Literature in the Qing Dynasty", "On the Origin of Calligraphy", "Linchi Yi De", "On Calligraphy Quatrains", "Poems on Paintings in Tie Ruyi Pavilion", "Miscellaneous Discussions on Chinese Opera", and "A Brief Introduction to Medicine". It is a volume on literature and art, covering fields including literature, calligraphy, painting, opera, medicine, etc.
