This book focuses on the core concept of "legend", combs through the details, and comes to the conclusion that "legendary narrative is a special Chinese narrative discourse and tradition" and that "the ancient Chinese novel itself has become a narrative mode that is difficult to get rid of in various genres and stages of ancient Chinese literature." This seemingly ordinary view is actually unusual. It contains extremely rich content and is of very important significance. It clarified the divergent opinions in the academic circles and confirmed people's hesitant opinions. This research is actually to find the roots of Chinese novels in the narrative tradition, allowing people to see the blood of "legend" in the development of Chinese novels. I think the findings of this research are indeed a major gain in the study of narrative modes and traditions of Chinese novels.
