"Selected Works", also known as "Selected Works of Zhaoming", is the earliest extant collection of poems and essays in my country compiled by Xiao Tong, Prince Zhaoming of the Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasties. Since the Han and Wei dynasties, there have been an increasing number of special collections by literati, making it difficult for scholars to read them all, so a collection of selected and best literary collections has emerged. "Selected Works" is a comprehensive collection of selected poems and essays, including 764 works by 130 writers from the Zhou Dynasty to the Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty, as well as several anonymous authors. According to genre, it is divided into Fu, Shi, Sao, Qi, Zhao, Volume, Ling, Jiao, Wen (Ce Wen), Table, Letter, Thirty-eight categories include Kai, Tangshi, Jian, memorial, calligraphy, transfer, appeal, interrogation, essay, word, preface, ode, praise, Fu Ming, historical theory, historical narrative praise, theory, Lianzhu, proverb, inscription, elegance, lament, inscription, epitaph, line, condolence, memorial inscription, etc. Thirty-eight categories, among which Fu and poetry are divided into several sub-categories according to their themes. The works in each category are roughly listed in chronological order by the author. <Br>The selection of articles in "Selected Works" pays great attention to literary talent, and takes "things come from contemplation, and righteousness returns to Hanzao" (Xiao Tong's "Preface to Selected Works") as the main artistic standard. It records many parallel works, which concentrates the main essence of literature in the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties. It is praised by the "Sikuquanshu General Catalog" as "the balance of articles and the source of works". "Selected Works" is rich in content and carefully selected.
