Based on the study of historical materials and close reading of texts, this book uses relevant theories of comparative literature and reception aesthetics to take the relationship between Junichiro Tanizaki and modern Chinese literary societies as the research object. It conducts a relatively comprehensive and systematic study of the research object from five aspects: Junichiro Tanizaki's interactions with modern Chinese literati, Junichiro Tanizaki's translation and introduction in the modern Chinese literary world, Junichiro Tanizaki and Creation Society, Junichiro Tanizaki and Lion's Roar Society, and Junichiro Tanizaki and Nanguo Society. It will be placed in the specific reception context of China in the 1920s and 1930s to explore the formation, development and specific manifestations of this relationship, and examine the absorption and selection of Tanizaki literature by modern Chinese writers. It will not only recognize the specific impact of Tanizaki literature on modern Chinese literary societies, but also analyze the selectivity and subjectivity of society writers in the process of literary reception, and provide corresponding academic basis for a reasonable and scientific understanding of the literary relationship between the two.

This book is based on Tanizaki's short stories, takes the artistic research of his short stories as the object, and uses text close reading as the basic method. From six aspects, the artistic characteristics of Tanizaki's short stories are deeply and systematically explained, the dominant artistic style of Tanizaki's short stories is revealed, and his artistic creation path of "combining East and West with the East as the main focus" is presented, thereby presenting the unique artistic charm of Tanizaki's short stories.
