Zhang Sui got a book. When he opened it and looked at it, it was three inches long and three inches thick. It was a small booklet with three characters on it, called the Ruyi Book. It recorded one hundred and eight Taoist methods of transformation. Thirty-six major transformations corresponded to the number of Tiangang. Seventy-two minor transformations corresponded to the number of earthly evil. It contained a magical formula for moving heaven and fighting, fighting ghosts and driving away gods.
