Heshen (May 28, 1750 - February 22, 1799), Niu Hulu's surname, formerly known as Shanbao, was a native of Erjiala of Zhenghong Banner in Manchuria. He was a minister in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. Together with Liu Yong and Ji Xiaolan, he was one of the three major central halls in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. When he first became an official, He Shen was smart and capable. Because Emperor Qianlong favored him, his personal desires expanded day by day, so he took advantage of his position to form cliques for personal gain and amass money. He accompanied Qianlong for more than 20 years, holding or concurrently holding many key positions in the central government of the Qing Dynasty. He was awarded the title of first-class loyal minister and bachelor of Wenhua Palace. It can be said that he is inferior to one person and superior to ten thousand people.
