The manuscript takes the diaries of the Qing Dynasty as the starting point, explores all aspects of Qing Dynasty society through ten small topics, and shows readers the basic methods of reading diaries. The author strives to break through the conventional method of using diaries as pure historical materials, and involves the study of book history, emotional history, food history, stylistics, gender studies and other methods, with a novel perspective and rich three-dimensionality. The content covers major historical events such as the case of five ministers who were bombed abroad in the late Qing Dynasty, medical history such as all living beings affected by the plague in the Qing Dynasty, and emotional history such as the life trajectories of the survivors of the late Qing Dynasty.
