Retainers, as a special group, are an important part of family politics. The retainer system of the Zhou Dynasty is closely related to the patriarchal system, the feudal system and the fief system, and together constitutes an important system with distinctive political characteristics of the Zhou Dynasty. This book takes the private retainers of the officials of the Zhou Dynasty as the research object, uses the vertical history of the emergence and development of retainers as a clue, and also pays attention to the new changes in the retainer system in different periods. With "change" as the core, it strives to comprehensively sort out and systematically explain the dynamic development process of the retainer system in the Zhou Dynasty.
