The period of the Republic of China was a period of fierce collision between Chinese and foreign culture and literature. The "spread of Western learning to the east" made foreign literature take root in our country. This book takes the study of foreign literature during the Republic of China as an independent object of investigation. It uses several important literary journals such as New Youth, Novel Monthly, Modern Times, Western Literature, and Times and Trends Literature and Art as its longitude, and uses the discourse of modern Chinese society as its latitude.
