This book explores Lu Xun's criticism and construction of urban culture, the importance of the rise of Lu Xun-style urban middle-class intellectuals to the development of modern urban culture, and the ideological origin and implications of Lu Xun's intervention and influence on the spirit, value orientation, career choices, and even social systems and public life of modern Chinese urbanites.
