This book is a collection of Yang Gang's works. It selects some works from his reportage collection "Southeast Journey", "Ten Thousand Trees Waiting for the Rain" and "Fuzhou Journey" and essay collection "Boiling Dreams". It also includes classic articles such as "Hard Work, My Motherland", "Chairman Mao Is with Us", "Mourning for Smedley" and "Corporal Punishment". Among them, "Ten Thousand Trees Silently Waiting for the Rain" tells the author's experience as a war travel reporter for Ta Kung Pao in the autumn of 1942 when he visited the front lines of Jiangxi and Zhejiang and the Fujian war zone. It shows pictures of blood and tears in half of the southeastern half of the country under the iron heel of the enemy.
