This book analyzes and explains eleven works of ten famous British and American writers, including John Donne, William Blake, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, D. H. Lawrence, Kate Chopin, Thomas Hardy, and James Joyce. Based on close reading of the text, the textual meaning and social value of the work are analyzed in detail based on modern Western literary criticism theory and the historical conditions and cultural background of the work's creation. Since different writers have different creative styles and the creative forms and writing techniques of their works vary widely, this book also focuses on the discussion of artistic tendencies such as structural techniques and language style characteristics of novels and poems.
