Kagoshima City's Shiroyama Town, as its name suggests, is located on the hillside on the east side of Shiroyama. It is an ancient historical city. During the Battle of Southwest, the Saigo Army used this place as its last stronghold to resist the imperial army. If you climb to the observation deck on the top of the city, you can have a panoramic view of the city streets and Sakurajima. Therefore, this place is always busy with many tourists and citizens all year round. Not far from the road, you can see several old houses close together and surrounded by dark green woods. It is located in a remote place and has a quiet environment, so it has been able to escape the baptism of war. Itō Toyoyoshi built a house at the foot of Shiroyama before the war. His wife passed away ten years ago. After his only daughter got married, he made a living by working as a busboy in a hotel, living alone until now.
