This book is a long narrative poem in neometrical style. The author uses the writing style of a poet and the perspective of a historian to vividly reproduce the growth experience of Xiao Guanyin, a famous female poet of the Khitan tribe in the Liao Dynasty, and the historical tragedy of being framed to death. It panoramically displays the political struggles, social features, national traditions and nomadic life of the Khitan people in the "Prairie Empire" of the Liao Dynasty. Xiao Guanyin is the queen of Yelu Hongji, the Daozong of the Liao Dynasty. She combines beauty, talent and power, but her wisdom, vision and special identity blocked the steps of the usurper. The careerist Yelu Yixin who was hiding beside Daozong of the Liao Dynasty did not hesitate to use despicable means to frame Xiao Guanyin in order to achieve his personal political ambitions. Daozong of the Liao Dynasty did not distinguish between loyal and traitorous people and ordered the queen to commit suicide. A generation of poetry queens died unjustly. From then on, the powerful steppe empire turned from prosperity to decline.
