Without the late Qing Dynasty, there would be no May Fourth Movement; without the May Fourth Movement, how would there be a revolution? Many of the secrets of the Chinese revolution can be traced back to the radical intellectuals of the late Qing Dynasty. Throughout the history of modern Chinese intellectuals, we can see two lines, three generational changes and four internal divisions.
