The Beiyang Group, represented by Yuan Shikai, emerged during the New Deal period in the late Qing Dynasty and was the main political force that influenced the political situation in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Feng Guozhang, one of the "Three Heroes of Beiyang", is a major member of Yuan Shikai's Beiyang Group. During the great social transformation at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Feng Guozhang changed from a military general in Beiyang to the governor of Zhili, Jiangsu and other places, which had an important impact on Yuan Shikai's strengthening of centralization and the political situation in the early Republic of China.
