This book consists of three volumes: the first volume includes all the chapters of the out-of-print "The Record of Stopping Clouds and Scholars' Interactions", the second volume includes the chapters that are not included in "The Survivors and the Second Officials of the Early Qing Dynasty" in "A Study of Poems and Scholars' Friendships in the Early Qing Dynasty", and the third volume contains single essays that have not been collected before. The articles in the collection are still related to the main research field of the author Xie Zhengguang, that is, the poetry and friendship of scholars in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as the intellectuals in the late Qing and early Republic of China who were in different times but had many similarities. There are also several monographs and book reviews in the same field. Each article not only has a solid academic foundation and traditional literary and historical knowledge, but also has high literary talent, sharp analysis, and shines with the light of speculative intelligence.

Historically in China, whenever dynasties changed, the origin of scholars became the biggest ethical issue for intellectuals, and it also became a focus of discussion among intellectuals in the future.
