"Okra" is a collection of Xiao Yemu's novels, including "Okra", "Continuous Autumn Rain", "Old Man Zhang Jumps off the Cliff", "A Night in the Tunnel" and many other short stories. "Okra" tells the thrilling story of Okra, a nurse in a field hospital, who secretly hid and protected the sick Eighth Route Army soldier "I" - Lao Bai during the Anti-Japanese War. "Continuous Autumn Rain" recalls the plot of the war years when Li Xiaoqiao, a medical officer in the military hospital, took three sick and injured patients to transfer and escape from danger; the two young female soldiers shouldered heavy responsibilities and were brave and fearless, showing the noble character of revolutionary warriors. In "Old Man Zhang Jumps off the Cliff", Old Man Zhang and the Japanese invaders died together. Xiao Yemu's work mainly shows the deeds of the people in the old district fighting the enemy under the leadership of the party during the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation, as well as the spirit of hardship, heroic struggle, fearlessness of sacrifice, and the spirit of going forward and succeeding in the struggle against the enemy; it also narrates the cordial military-civilian relations.
