This book mainly uses the archives of the Republic of China in the Longquan Municipal Archives and takes Baojia in Longquan County, Zhejiang Province as the research object. It examines the overview of the implementation of Baojia in Longquan, the functions, personnel composition, selection, appointment and dismissal, rewards and punishments of township and village Baojia chiefs, and explores how the government uses the Baojia organization to implement population surveys and personnel registration, and how to pass the Baojia Bao national schools, township people's conferences, people's conferences, and township and village cooperatives carry out rural political mobilization, promote rural economic construction and cultural education, and how Baojia is used to implement taxation and conscription, thereby analyzing the complex relationship between the government, Baojia and rural society, and the role of Baojia in rural social governance.
