In September 2015, the Social History Research Center of the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the School of History of Hebei University held the Sixth International Academic Symposium on Modern Chinese Social History in Baoding, an ancient city in North China, with the theme of "Urban and Rural Areas in North China and Modern Regional Society." This book is a collection of conference papers. It explores issues related to modern North China and regional history from different aspects, and proposes a new research field - the social history of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
