After the Jin and Song Dynasties, natural landscapes gradually became an independent theme and important element in Chinese poetry. Unlike early works such as The Book of Songs and Songs of Chu, where landscapes were only used as a means for poets to express their emotions, poets such as Xie Lingyun and Bao Zhao began to continue to describe landscapes positively. Many words and concepts about natural scenery first appeared in poetry, and later spread to painting, becoming a unique expression of Chinese classical culture.
