Emotional Monster
Short Fiction情绪怪物
Xiang Qing.
This is the story of Chen Meiting, a patient with bipolar disorder, who struggled to get out of the emotional whirlpool of a student suicide incident and gradually achieved self-reconciliation. As a Chinese teacher who is highly sensitive and prone to internal conflict, she witnessed her student Chunxia commit suicide by jumping off a building due to academic and family pressure, which triggered her bipolar disorder and forced her to endure both physical and mental torture. He eventually emerged from the shadows through therapy, family support, and personal effort (especially by helping another student, Jiaxin). Through her perspective, she reveals the dual pressures of family and school that children bear under the education system, criticizes the social phenomenon of utilitarian indifference, and conveys that love and tolerance are the best medicine to heal spiritual wounds. This is a psychological realism work about the pain, self-help and hope of mental illness.
