The author Xi Yue has interviewed more than 30 foreigners living in Beijing and Shanghai since 2010, and compiled the interviews into this book. The protagonists in the book come from all over the world: Japan, South Korea, Germany, the United States, Brazil, Israel... They have been in China for as long as twenty years, and their hometown has become a "distant place that they cannot return to." In just a few months, the image of China in my mind is being refreshed every day. Their identities in China are also different. Some are translators who translate and introduce the works of famous Chinese masters to their home country, some are experts and scholars who come to China for exchange visits, and some are enthusiastic young people who are full of longing to start a business in China. In their eyes, what kind of different picture does China look like?
