"The Color of Black" is a collection of country-themed short stories. The author takes the countryside in southwestern Zhejiang as the background, captures different scenes, and narrates the struggling life of farmers in the mountainous areas of southwestern Zhejiang during the historical changes of the twentieth century. While paying attention to the fate of the protagonist, the author also expresses his reluctance for his homeland and his humanistic care for the disadvantaged groups. He also pays special attention to the description of the village customs in southwestern Zhejiang. This collection of novels can be understood as the author's collection of memories of a certain period in the countryside of southwestern Zhejiang. The protagonists created in the novel are all new farmers with knowledge and ideals after the reform and opening up, with advanced ideas and challenging spirit. Among them, "Black Color" won the short story gold medal in the Second Lishui Literary Grand Prix.
