This book is a monograph on the study of propositions in ancient Chinese literary theory. "Proposition" and "category", as the main ways for ancient Chinese literary and art theorists to express their ideas, have completely different nature, connotation and formal characteristics. There are a large number of propositions in various literary and artistic theories such as ancient poetry, novels, dramas, calligraphy and painting. This book is a monograph that studies the relationship and origins between Confucian classics and ancient Chinese literary theory. The Qing Dynasty was a period of great development of literary theory and a period of revival of Confucian classics. Literary theories of Qing Dynasty poetry, novels, and operas were all influenced by Confucian classics. As far as the construction of the ancient literary theory system is concerned, ancient literary ontology, creation theory, work theory, functional value theory, general theory and literary criticism are particularly influenced by Confucian classics.
