Through interviews with the children of the upper-class Yi people in Yunnan and close family members during the Republic of China, the author obtained a large amount of first-hand information, which reflected many important political and social activities of the upper-class Yi people in Yunnan during the Republic of China. This revealed the upper-class Yi group and its internal relationships, which is extremely valuable material for studying the society of the Yi people in Southwest China and the history of the southwest frontier in modern times.
