"Half Acre of Fangtang" is set in the mysterious western Hunan. It tells the story of a sickly young man named Pingyaozi (Hui Jue) who was sent to a mountain for foster care by his family. He was cared for by his master and fellow teachers. He was influenced by the architectural carvings in the Medicine Master Temple and was later inspired by folk craftsmen to become obsessed with woodcarving. After the mountain temple collapsed, he followed his senior sister Mei Zi down the mountain and settled in the "Half Acre Fangtang" teahouse under the ancient city. Amidst the aroma of medicine, the smell of tea, and the carving of knives and axes, he faced the ancient curse behind his skills and the dilemma of survival. Finally, he used the carving knife as his pulse to diagnose the soul of wood and heal the inner demons, and renew the spiritual flame of the Medicine Master Temple amidst the fireworks of the world. This is a Xiangxi story about redemption, inheritance and ingenuity.
