The past event narrated by the author was a major historical event that occurred during the Anti-Japanese War of the last century. From 1945 to now, this major historical event has been covered in dust for more than sixty years! Most of the witnesses who experienced this period of history are no longer alive, and there are very few people left. Due to many reasons, the people who survived did not disclose the details of this important historical event to the public. In the golden autumn of 2006, the author was stationed at the Sanjiang Branch of the Heilongjiang Agricultural Reclamation and Construction Bureau and met Mr. Yu Hailong, one of the witnesses of this important historical event that year. This year, he is already eighty-four years old.

In the early years of the Republic of China, when Zhang Zuolin was still the king of the Northeast, there really was a man named Song Laosan in the Northeast. However, this Song Laosan did not live in Fengtian City, but in a village called Lishugou in Ning'an County, Jilin Province at that time (now in Ning'an County, Mudanjiang District, Heilongjiang Province). The village of Lishugou is close to Jingbo Lake. Since the valleys in this area are full of pear trees, the name of the village is Lishugou. Even though Lishugou is a rural village deep in the mountains, it gathers families from 58 counties in six provinces. Song Laosan's family is one of them.
