Interpretation of Utopia and Science Fiction Literature

Wang Ruirui

136K0

"Utopia" is a keyword used by many theorists in science fiction criticism, especially in Western Marxist science fiction criticism. The close connection between Western Marxist theory and science fiction literature began in the 1970s. The science fiction criticism initiated by Darko Suenwen marked the Marxist turn of Western science fiction criticism. Since then, utopia has gradually evolved into the ultimate vision of Western Marxist science fiction criticism. This book analyzes the causes of the Marxist turn in Western science fiction literary criticism, and deeply explores the "utopian" perspective of Western Marxist science fiction criticism. On this basis, we conduct a detailed and in-depth study of the science fiction critical theories of Suenwen, Jameson, Moylan, Friedman and other scholars.

Region, Tradition and Futurity: a Poetic Interpretation of the Literary Scene

Wang Ruirui

"Metaverse" has recently become a global hot word, igniting people's enthusiasm for future technology. If the metaverse means that literature needs to adhere to a global vision, will the many local concepts surrounding literary creation and research (such as concepts such as "region" and "tradition") face a loss of explanatory effectiveness? In such an era where the boundaries between virtuality and reality are increasingly blurred, it is necessary for us to sort out and re-examine those local concepts that were once active in the field of literature, and explore their possible future implications. This book takes the above-mentioned issues as an opportunity, takes regional space and culture as the research objects, and conducts all-round research on them. It includes both a macroscopic inspection of returning to the historical scene and a close reading of the text based on individual creative cases. In addition to the introduction and appendices, it includes a total of five chapters, namely: the journey of seeking roots and the pain of losing roots, regional writing and transcending regions, rational examination of traditional culture, historical sorrows and body images, technological future and ethical confusion. This study attempts to connect history, tradition and the future, and comprehensively expand the research space on the relationship between literary region and culture.
