Ningbo Huamei Hospital is a modern Western hospital in Ningbo and Zhejiang. It is also a Western hospital established by foreigners in China after the Opium War. It is one of the Western hospitals with a long history in China. The hospital originated from the Western medicine clinic opened by American Baptist missionary Dr. Daniel Jerome Macgowan (1814-1893) in Ningbo in November 1843. It was taken over by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government in 1951. In 1954, it was renamed Ningbo Second Hospital, which continues to this day. The hospital spans three centuries and has a history of 175 years. It can be said that it has gone through many vicissitudes of life.
