This book re-examines the Cold War from the perspective of panoramic global changes. By telling a series of major international events, it analyzes the origin, development and end of the Cold War, as well as how the political, economic and social systems of the major countries in the two camps affected their mutual relations and the final pattern of the Cold War. It breaks out of the stereotypes of the two camps and turns its perspective to third world countries to observe how their development paths and domestic and foreign policies affected the trend of the Cold War. It also explores how the changes in lifestyle, culture, art, science and technology during the Cold War became the basic factors that stirred up the world. Ultimately, this book attempts to go beyond the Cold War itself, to see through the so-called "new Cold War" today, and to trace the roots of today's conflicts that had their seeds planted during the Cold War. As a "peer" of the Cold War, the author's personal experience is closely related to the Cold War. In addition to theory, the author goes deep into the complicated historical facts, turns the Cold War into concrete stories, pays attention to the past and future of millions of ordinary people, and looks forward to an era that eliminates the "new Cold War" from the historical memory rooted in fear and pain.
