This novel is set in contemporary Chengdu (also known as Jincheng). It tells the story of Chen Yan, a young cultural relic restorer and folklore researcher who is native to Chengdu, and his friend Su Qing. In this novel, the ancient Shu civilization does not appear in the form of "supernatural forces", but in the form of cultural genes, collective subconsciousness, skill inheritance, and historical metaphors, which profoundly affects the destiny choices and value pursuits of contemporary Chengdu people, achieving a modern and psychological reconstruction of "the treasures of ancient Shu". The storyline of this novel also cuts into the urban fireworks of Chengdu. Through the characters' daily lives and interpersonal interactions, Chengdu's landmarks, food, dialects and customs are naturally presented, creating a warm narrative of "fireworks on earth". The characters in the book travel through the streets, teahouses, hot pot restaurants, and old communities of Chengdu to explore the cultural code that integrates the ancient Shu civilization into the blood of Chengdu people.
