"Drifting" is a piece of documentary literature. The author, Mr. Tu An, is a famous translator, writer and editor in my country. "Drifting" was written by the author when he was 13 to 15 years old. It records the experience of fleeing with his family from 1937 to 1938. He integrated his personal experience into the article, using precise and concise writing; slightly childish but yet contagious language; and documentary techniques that make people feel like they were on the scene, telling us about the years of escape during the Anti-Japanese War; the unique memories of people of that era; and what the author saw, heard, and felt along the way as a child. The book includes sketches made by Mr. Tu An and his brother at that time, which are published for the first time and are of great value.
