This work takes a Chinese-speaking woman who holds a Singapore companion visa and is unable to work due to system restrictions as the core of the narrative, embarking on a journey to Southeast Asia where reality and fantasy are intertwined. The novel is composed of two intertwined narrative threads: one is the protagonist's personal exploration of rediscovering "how to live in this world" amid unemployment, identity suspension, and life disorder; the other is a fragmented and often forgotten history of Chinese migration in Southeast Asia that is spliced together through animals, plants, and mythological imagery.
