An Xin, a trafficked girl, escaped from her "home" where she had been trapped for six years late one night. She climbed on a coal train and came to a strange city. In order to survive, at the age of eleven, she picked up food in trash cans and drank cold water in public restrooms. Later, she met Bai Ge, a beggar. The kind-hearted Bai Ge took An Xin in, and An Xin turned from a wandering child into a beggar. During her interaction with Bai Ge, she learned to read, which ignited An Xin's desire for knowledge. From then on, she took advantage of every opportunity to study. In order to study, she overcame many difficulties. With her own efforts and the help of kind-hearted people, An Xin was finally admitted to university. In the social atmosphere where reading is useless and money is paramount, how to understand the value of knowledge has become an important way to guide young people to read. The protagonist overcomes various difficulties in adversity.
