In the 1860s, Austrian geneticist Gregor Mendel proposed the idea that biological traits are controlled by genetic factors. In the early 20th century, geneticist Morgan realized that genes exist on chromosomes and are arranged linearly on chromosomes through genetic experiments on fruit flies, and thus came to the conclusion that chromosomes are gene carriers. In 1909, Danish geneticist Johnson formally proposed the concept of "gene" in his book "Principles of Precision Genetics". After the 1950s, with the development of molecular genetics, especially after Watson and Crick proposed the double helix structure of DNA, people further understood the nature of genes, that is, genes are DNA fragments with genetic effects. With the advancement of science and technology, scientists have discovered that a person's achievements are closely related to genes.
