I once roamed the rivers and lakes; I once rode across the desert; I once wreaked havoc on the court; I once pointed my sword at the Western Regions; I once suppressed demons with my sword; I once stepped through the void; I once entered the secret realm alone... The God of War calls me Invincible; the God of Heaven calls me Terror; the King of Ghosts calls me Yama; the King of Demons respects me as Venerable. The king regards me as a pillar; the courtiers call me a rebellious official; the people praise me as a saint. But, after all, I am not a saint, nor a rebellious official, nor a pillar. I am just an ordinary person, an ordinary person who works in the fields, fishes by the river, sits alone in the forest, and witnesses the sunrise and sunset in spring, summer, autumn and winter.
