Outside the Triple Gate
Young Adult三重门外
Tang Yang 1121
My original "Three Doors Outside" is named like a campus novel, but in fact it contains countless glitz, countless haggards, countless lonely persistence and watching, as well as countless thoughts in life. Sections 1 to 19 were written when I was about 20 years old. The twenty-first chapter to the final chapter is continued when I am nearly forty years old~ This novella, from the perspective of the protagonist "Shi Ying", narrates the education, friendship, love, youth and various adolescence encounters and thoughts of a junior high school student under the background of my country's existing exam-oriented education. Under the system, "Shi Ying" seems to be useless at everything, but is he really that bad? Or was it originally a priceless piece of jade? I believe that attentive readers will judge for themselves. If readers can read this book patiently, they may be surprised and moved by accidentally picking up pearls on the beach or digging diamonds among the ores in ruins! Everyone has youth, but not everyone can have so many experiences, thoughts and feelings, as well as confusion, struggle and resistance like "Shi Ying". Most people just muddle along, remain mediocre while being ignorant, and drift with the crowd without knowing it~ The title of this book is "Outside the Three Gates" because it is similar in style and theme to Mr. Han Han's "Three Gates". "Three Doors" was published just as I was finishing the first nineteen sections, so to some extent "Shadow of Stone" was born at the wrong time. Because there are too many voices telling me that there is only one "Han Han"... Twenty years passed between the discontinuation of this book and its continuation. These twenty years have taught me one thing: finish what you want to accomplish without leaving any regrets.
