Anarchism is a petty bourgeois social and political trend in the international workers' movement. It emerged in the mid-19th century when capitalist contradictions began to intensify. In the late 1880s, after this trend of thought was introduced to China from Europe and Japan, it was mixed with the traditional Chinese idea of equality, the inaction thought of Lao and Zhuang, and the Western utopian socialist thought, forming a Chinese-style anarchist theoretical system. The anarchist trend of thought went through several ups and downs in China's modern history, and finally went bankrupt in the 1940s. As a political trend of thought and a political faction, it withdrew from the stage of China's political history. However, it is not extinct. Whenever there is social unrest, it will breed and spread, confusing some people, especially young people. Therefore, it is particularly important and significant to understand and clarify the historical process of its rise, development and destruction, and to understand its essence and basic characteristics today.
