The Book of Past Events in Dunhuang is a novel in which the author uses the techniques of ancient Greek tragedy to describe the life of Mingyue Nu, a young muralist in Dunhuang during the Tang Dynasty. However, Mingyue Nu was never satisfied with his works. He always pursued the realm of integrating human and painting. An accidental eye disease allowed him to see pictures that others could not see, which opened up a new aspect of his artistic creation, and the mystery of his own life experience was slowly revealed.
