This book systematically sorts out Mao Dun's life and creation from four stages: the early period, before and after the Great Revolution, the Left Alliance period, and the Anti-Japanese War and Liberation War period. It summarizes Mao Dun's social thoughts and literary and artistic thoughts, and makes a detailed analysis of Mao Dun's representative works "Eclipse", "From Guling to Tokyo", and "Midnight". The appendix also carefully organizes the chronology of Mao Dun's writings and translations and notes on his pen names (aliases). During the writing process, Mr. Sun also invited Mao Dun and Shen Shuang to review the manuscript and improve some details to ensure the authenticity of the content to the greatest extent. This book enriches the domestic literary circle's empirical research results on individual writers, opens a window for studying Mao Dun's life experience and literary creation, and lays a solid foundation for future generations of Mao Dun research.
